Nasalance Changes after Adenoidectomy

Abstract
Background and Objectives£ºThe changes of voice occurred occasionally after adenoidectomy. This study was designed to estimate the postoperative changes of voice in terms of nasalance by using nasometer.

Materials and Methods£ºData of thirty patients who underwent adenoidectomy were evaluated. Visual analogue scale and nasalance test was performed preoperative, postoperative 1week and 1month.

Results£ºPostoperative patients¡¯ subjective symptoms were improved. Postoperative mean nasalance results showed statistically significant increase in 1weeks after adenoidectomy. And the postoperative 1month state show no significant changes compared to the preoperative state.

Conclusions£ºThe increase of the nasalance after adenoidectomy is temporary. But operator have to consider cautiously the change of the patient¡¯s voice.
